Guterres appreciates Iraq's role and its continued efforts to prevent the expansion of the conflict in Gaza

Baghdad / NINA /- The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, appreciated Iraq’s role and its continued efforts to prevent the expansion of the conflict in Gaza.

 The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement: "Al-Sudani received a phone call from the Secretary-General of the United Nations, during which developments in the situation in the region were discussed."

 It added: "Al-Sudani and Guterres discussed coordination with the international organization on various issues, and the future relationship between Iraq and the United Nations."

 Al-Sudani appreciated, according to the statement, Guterres’ positions calling for stopping the war in Gaza, which coincide with Iraq’s positions, which emphasize preventing escalation and sparing the region from events sliding towards dangerous turns.

 While the Secretary-General stressed the need to stop the war on Gaza and spare the region from further repercussions and tensions, praising Iraq’s role and its continued efforts to communicate to achieve calm and prevent the expansion of the conflict./ End
