AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023/ Saudi Arabia Aspire to Progress to Quarter-finals

Doha, January 29 (QNA) - Saudi Arabia aspire to qualify for the quarter-finals of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 when they face South Korea on Tuesday at the Education City Stadium in the Round of 16 of the ongoing continental championship in the State of Qatar. The Saudi team are seeking to continue their campaign in the tournament after topping their group in the first round with seven points from two wins over Oman and Kyrgyzstan and a draw against Thailand. Saudi Arabia hope to overcome the hurdle of the Round of 16 after failing to reach the quarter-finals of the previous edition in the UAE in 2019, following their 1-0 loss to Japan. The Saudi team prepared well for tomorrow's match. Their last training sessions saw the participation of player Abdul Rahman Ghareeb who was absent from training in the past days. Defender Hassan Al Tambakti will also return to participate after recovering from the injury that made him miss the last match against Thailand. Meanwhile, South Korea seek to lift the third trophy after they last won it 64 years ago. The South Korean team qualified for the Round of 16 after finishing runner-up in their group with four points from two draws against Jordan and Malaysia and a single win over Bahrain. (QNA)
