AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023/ Oman's Coach Says His Side Played Well against Kyrgyzstan

Doha, January 25 (QNA) - Oman national football team coach Branko Ivankovic expressed his sadness at the team's failure to qualify for the round of 16 of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 after a 1-1 draw with Kyrgyzstan at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium in the third and final round of Group F.
    In the post-match press conference, Ivankovic said that Oman played well against the Kyrgyz team, was the better side, and deserved to qualify for the next round.
       He pointed out that the statistics were in their favor throughout the match, as the national team players made 17 shots on goal, had 12 corner kicks, and created four goal-scoring opportunities, but the players failed to convert these chances after the Kyrgyz national team goalkeeper and the defense line were able to face all these attempts.
       The Omani national team coach explained that he does not know his current situation with the national team, especially since his contract expires on February 1.
       Regarding the mistakes that caused the failure to win and qualify, the coach said that mistakes happen in football, explaining that in their previous match against the Thai national team, Oman team players had 80 percent possession of the ball, but they were unable to score goals. (QNA)
