AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023/ Son Emphasizes Importance of Developing South Korea's Defensive Performance

Doha, January 25 (QNA) - South Korean national team captain Son Heung-min stressed the need to develop the team's defensive performance in the next stage of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
       The player who won the best player award in his country's match against Malaysia, which ended in a 3-3 draw on Thursday at Al Janoub Stadium in the third and final round of Group E, said that they are required to prepare and appear better for the round of 16.
       Son pointed out that they were looking forward to topping the group, but the Malaysian team snatched the equalizer in the last minute of stoppage time to finish the group stage in second place with 5 points, behind Bahrain, the leaders with 6 points. 
       The captain of the Korean national team praised Malaysia's performance in the match, stressing that its players fought to achieve a positive result and did not give up until the final whistle, thus, they deserved to get a draw point, avoiding losing and bidding farewell to the tournament.
       On facing Iraq in the next round of the tournament, Son Heung-min stressed that they will be ready for any opponent, adding they must develop both their defensive and offensive performance to achieve their ambitions in reaching the final. (QNA)
