AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023/ Director of Health and Safety Department to QNA: World Cup Legacy Gave Fans Safe Football Experience

Doha, January 24 (QNA) - Director of the Health and Safety Department of the Local Organizing Committee of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Eng. Abdullah Al Bishri confirmed that the legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has given fans of the tournament currently held in Qatar the opportunity to live a safe football experience, applying the same World Cup standards.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Bishri who is also director of Khalifa International Stadium, said that the main goal of the health and safety team is to provide a safe work environment free of accidents for all workers in the tournament, audiences and fans.
He stressed that the tournament is approaching the end of its group stage and that no health and safety incidents have been recorded, which manifests the keenness to implement health and safety standards and the lessons learned from the World Cup tournament.
Al Bishri added that the application of health and safety standards in the current Asian Cup includes all employees and partners in the country, and includes safety standards in construction and dismantling management, in accordance with the application of Qatar Construction Specifications 2014 standards.
He pointed out that the tasks of health and safety management in the tournament are based on many aspects including getting a work permit, periodic inspection, temporary structures or facility, risk assessment, certificate for the materials used, a detailed description of the design, engineering and detailed calculations for the temporary facility, evacuation plans in cases of accidents, accident reporting, and joint inspection with the civil defense department.
