QMMF Continues Preparations for 1812 km Qatar Race


 

Doha, January 24 (QNA) -  Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) intensified preparations to host the Qatar 1812 km race, as part of FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) for the first time, during the period from Feb. 29 to Mar. 2.
   The QMMF revealed, in a statement on Wednesday, that during this race it will provide the opportunity for motor racing fans to be part of the event, by playing the roles of marshal during the event, pointing out that playing the role of marshal will provide the opportunity for motor racing fans to follow closely the most exciting motor sports races in the world, as well as joining a close-knit group that loves motor sports, in addition to training and development and gaining practical experience and technical knowledge.
   QMMF explained that the minimum age to apply to work as a marshal is 18 years, as applicants must have a valid Qatar ID card, in addition to a valid bank account, indicating that the federation is looking for individuals who have a spirit of teamwork and initiative and are able to work long hours.
   This year, Lusail International Circuit will host the opening race of the 2024 WEC season by hosting the Qatar 1812 km race, which is held within the framework of the activities of the Lusail Speed ​​Fest, which is organized for the first time and lasts for less than 10 hours. The title of the race celebrates the National Day of the State of Qatar.
   The race starts with a free practice on Feb. 29, followed by qualifying rounds and the Lusail Classic race on 1 March. It concludes with the exciting final race on 2 March. The FIA WEC, entering its twelfth season this year, is the world's premier international sports car championship, with multiple cars racing simultaneously in two classes: the hypercar and LMGT3 categories.
