AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023/Jordan's Coach Aims for Victory against Bahrain

Doha, January 24 (QNA) - Moroccan Hussein Ammouta, Jordan national football team's coach highlighted the importance of his team's match against Bahrain on Thursday in the last round of Group E competitions of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
        In the pre-match press conference, Ammouta said that Jordan aim to keep up their performance level in the tournament by consolidating it with a win over Bahrain, to maintain the former's position in the Group E lead.
         Regarding the possibility of his team having to face off Japan or Saudi Arabia in the round of 16, in the event of qualifying, the Coach said that this possibility had crossed his and the technical team's minds, however, he added that it is inconceivable for Jordan to choose to lose against Bahrain in order to avoid a match against Japan or Saudi Arabia. He added that instead, the focus right now is on giving the team a new morale boost by defeating Bahrain and moving to the next stage with the same momentum.
        Ammouta stressed that thanks to their self confidence and positive results in the previous games, his team players are ready to face any opponent.
        Jordan's coach admitted that the match against Bahrain will not be easy, as the opponent is a strong one, adding that he knows the Bahrain team quite well, going back to when he was coaching Morocco, which played a match against Bahrain before the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup.
        For his part, team player Ali Olwan said that the Bahrain match is no less important than the matches against Malaysia and South Korea, stressing Jordan's determination to win, and considering the team's performance in this tournament as outstanding.
        He also praised Jordan's fans for supporting the squad in the previous games, trusting that they will follow suit. (QNA)
