Malaysia's BDB & Shanghai Youzhu Ink MOU For Innovative Industrial Waste Management Project

ALOR SETAR (Kedah, Malaysia), Jan 23 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian property development and investment company, Bina Darulaman Bhd (BDB) has forged an international partnership with Shanghai Youzhu Industry Co. Ltd. (Shanghai Youzhu), a company based in China, for the implementation of an innovative industrial waste management project.

BDB executive director Raja Shahreen Raja Othman said the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on Tuesday, was also the group’s initiative to contribute to a sustainable environment through sustainable developments.

"It aims to capitalise on the expertise of both parties in the implementation of a comprehensive industrial waste management, minimise the impact on the environment, promote sustainable development as well to ensure compliance to the guidelines and requirements set up by the authorities,” he said in a statement following the signing of the MoU here.

Elaborating further, Raja Shahreen said this partnership also aimed at contributing to the well-being of the community in the surrounding areas as well as related stakeholders.

"In line with this objective, BDB and Shanghai Youzhu have planned to set up a joint-venture company for the development of industrial waste management in Kedah (a state in northwest Malaysia),” he said.

He said BDB has chosen to cooperate with Shanghai Youzhu based on the latter’s 27-year expertise and experience in managing the entire supply chain of industrial chemicals.

Additionally, Shanghai Youzhu has over 10 years of experience in solid waste recovery and management, including hazardous and scheduled wastes, waste recycling process, as well as a holistic industrial waste management system.

The company currently provides waste management services to Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik Sdn Bhd (AT&S) in Kulim (a district in Kedah) and Chongqing, China.

"Shanghai Youzhu has also spread its wing in Malaysia with the establishment of Jiahui Industrial (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd which is directly involved in the management of industrial waste,” he said.
