AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023/ Thailand's Coach: Defensive Approach Protected Team against Oman Threat

Doha, January 21 (QNA) - The Japanese Masatada Ishii, Thailand national football team's coach expressed his satisfaction at Thailand's draw with Oman in the match that took place at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium today, in the 2nd round of Group F competitions of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
In a post-game press conference, Ishii said that his team adopted a defensive approach in order to keep their opponent at bay and to take charge of the game.
He added that Oman played exceptionally well in today's match, and indeed, has been showing a strong performance since their match against Saudi Arabia, which prompted Thailand to adopt a defensive approach in order to control the game.
Ishii said that Thailand still maintains their chance of advancing to the round of 16 thanks to the 4 points they earned in 2 matches, adding that his team will prepare well for their upcoming match against Saudi Arabia, in order to ensure victory and qualifying, for which he will also analyze Saudi Arabia's strategies in search of weaknesses.
Thailand's coach underscored that, two matches in and Thailand did not concede any goals. However, he contrasted it with admitting that his team were hoping to earn the match's 3 points only to fail to do so and earn a single point from drawing, something he was still happy about.
Ishii concluded by saying that Thailand's defensive approach applied in both of its matches in this tournament had a huge influence in maintaining Thailand's clean sheet. (QNA)
