QF Marks International Day of Education with Various Events for Students, Families

Doha, January 21 (QNA) - Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) is organizing a series of events to mark the International Day of Education, with the activities including discussion sessions, workshops and events for families, students and all members of society. Pre-university schools at QF and 19 schools affiliated with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as well as international and private schools and partner universities are taking part.
At a press conference, Director of Partnerships within the Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships department of QF's Pre-University Education Maryam Al Hajri said that the events will be held at the Ceremonial Court in Education City and attendance will be open to all from 9am to 6pm, adding that an interactive exhibition featuring distinguished educational programs for visitors including parents, students or community members will be organized.
She pointed out that workshops and interactive discussion sessions will be organized to present many important topics and ideas, with secondary school students visiting partner universities at QF to learn about the programs offered at these universities.
She added that the day will begin with an Arabic session titled Language and Identity - Strategies for Preservation', followed by a session by Education Above All Foundation on the topic of Building Resilient Futures: The Transformative Power of Education in Conflict Zones'. A panel discussion later in the day by QF's Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) will highlight the importance of building a supportive environment that enhances trust and communication with children and youth, she said.
Senior specialist at the QF media office Alya Al Suwaidi said that the QF would host multiple activities in commemoration of International Day of Education, which is celebrated each year on 24 January by the United Nations creating the opportunity for schools and families to come together with the aim of improving the quality of education, and students' performance.
In partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the QF's celebration of the day will take place under the theme Education is Everyone's Responsibility', which aims to inspire public and private entities, as well as individuals across society, to actively champion and elevate the standard of education throughout Qatar, she said.
For her part, Executive Director of the DIFI Dr. Sharifa Al Emadi stressed that the family aspect is very important for education and that the family has a major role in many aspects of education, adding that the event would focus on the importance of the presence of the family in the student's life and the necessity of involving it in all aspects related to the student.
Dr. Sharifa Al Emadi praised the announcement of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau regarding reducing working hours for parents working in government agencies or their representatives to allow them attend the celebration of International Day of Education which will be held in schools between January 21 and 25.
She noted that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in cooperation with the QF, launched the "Tanshia" Program, a national program that offers free workshops to parents and covers many aspects such as emotional support, parental monitoring, and others. (QNA)
