AFC Asian Cup 2023/ South Korea's Coach: Jordan Match Lesson to be Learned

Doha, January 20 (QNA) - The German Jurgen Klinsmann, South Korea national football team coach said his team's match against Jordan which ended 2-2, was not easy at all, adding that South Korea put a lot of effort to avoid a defeat in that game.
In the post-match press conference, Klinsmann commented on his team's match against Jordan in the 2nd round of Group E competitions of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 by saying that the game went exactly as he had anticipated before the game that it would be a difficult one, adding that Jordan played fiercely in the first half by scoring two goals and creating a lot of troubles for their South Korean opponent.
The Coach said that his team performed better in the 2nd half, establishing their dominance and creating many chances through which they were able to draw with Jordan during overtime, making it so close to winning, however, he added that all this does not mean that mistakes did not occur, stressing the need to reflect on them and rectify them in future matches.
Klinsmann praised the Jordanian team's performance, especially at duels, extracting the ball, and applying pressure in mid-field, rendering South Korea unable to act during the 1st half.
Regarding the possibility that South Korea might lose the group lead and have to then face off Japan in the round of 16, the Coach indicated that the current focus is on the match against Malaysia in order to qualify and perhaps top the group.
Klinsmann concluded by saying that no match has a guaranteed outcome, even in the case of South Korea which have among their ranks distinguished players who play for international leagues. He also said that performance and looking into game details are the only guarantee to obtain desired results, making a reference to the match against Jordan, where things were in favor of South Korea on paper, yet in reality, the team strived to prevent a loss.
