AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023/ Chairman of Organizing Committee Affirms Qatar's Commitment to Hosting Unique Continental Championship

Doha, January 18 (QNA) - HE Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani affirmed Qatar's commitment to hosting a unique edition of the continental championship, providing participating teams and fans with an unparalleled experience.
During his visit to several missions of the participating teams in the tournament, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani stated that Qatar's modern sports infrastructure and extensive experience in hosting major sporting events help players deliver top performances in the tournament and offers a rich and enjoyable cultural experience for the fans.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee met with representatives of Vietnam, Syria, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, and Lebanon.
HE Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani welcomed all participants in the AFC Asian Cup, emphasizing the tournament's role as a platform to strengthen cooperation, enhance communication between nations, welcoming all teams and fans to this prestigious sporting event, which reaffirms Qatar's status as a leading global sports hub.
He added that football unites people around the world, providing a platform for cultural exchange and promoting the language of dialogue and understanding. He welcomed, on behalf of those responsible for hosting the Asian event, the fans from across the continent and beyond to enjoy a fantastic tournament in Qatar.
The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 is held at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums, a first-of-its-kind initiative. The tournament will take place on nine stadiums, seven of which hosted matches during the recent FIFA World Cup.
The competition, featuring 24 teams, marks Qatar's third time hosting the continental championship after organizing the 1988 and 2011 editions. The tournament runs until February 10. (QNA)
