Ministry of Endowments Holds Symposium on Qatar's Sustainable Legacy in Environment Conservation

Doha, January 17 (QNA) - The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs held a symposium in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) under the theme of Qatar's environment is a sustainable legacy.
   The symposium comes within the framework of the societal partnership between the state miniseries and its institutions to raise awareness of the citizens and residents on the significance of conserving the environment in the quest for achieving the third national development strategy that primarily aims to put emphasis on a high-quality clean air and water, in addition to persistently optimizing the natural landscape.
   Addressing the symposium, Head of Training and Administrative Development Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohammed Khalifa Ghanem Al Kubaisi underscored the ministry's belief in the importance of close cooperation with the state miniseries and institutions to achieve a top-notch integration, adding that the organization of the symposium aims to help preserve the Qatari environment as a sustainable legacy enjoyed by the Qatari community, as well as regional and global surroundings to conserve the environment and achieve welfare, safety and prosperity for humans on the land of Qatar and all lands.
       The Ministry has numerous contributions in conserving the environment, such as exploring the environmental issues from Sharia perspectives through conducting Sharia studies and scientific research, in addition to pedagogical and Dawah lectures and lessons and participating in environment and Sharia-related symposia to further propagate the Sharia awareness based on the constants of the Islamic religion, Al Kubaisi pointed out, adding that this stems from an overreaching Sharia that touches the entirety life of Muslims, and highlights Islam in everything that remedies human life.
   Environmental expert and engineering advisor at the MoECC, Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Kuwari presented a research paper under the title of environmental culture as a strategic dimension to protect and promote environment in Qatar, during which he highlighted that there is a close interconnectedness between human and environment, pointing out that the environment-human relationship from the Islamic perspective is governed by two regulations; harnessing all environmental components for the service of humans to help them advance their message, and moderation as a prerequisite for investing in environment resources.
   Al Kuwari underscored the significance of propagating the culture through education by adding study materials to children education system starting from childhood stage, affirming that these materials should essentially address the methods of conserving the environment, in addition to the significance of spreading awareness and culture of community individuals, as well as public institutions and civil society with respect to environment conservation.
   Environmental expert and advisor in the MoECC Dr. Miteb Al Kubaisi presented a scientific paper under the theme of protecting environment from pollution, which primarily addressed an array of critical research themes that included introduction of environment, sustainable development, role of various departments in preserving the environment, chiefly the Industrial Monitoring and Inspection Department, the Environmental Assessment and Permit Department, the Hazardous Chemicals & Waste Department, and the Radiation and Chemicals Protection Department, alongside roles undertaken by miniseries, public and private institutions and civil societies in conserving the environment and achieving the environmental sustainability.
