AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023/ Former Syria's Captain Hails Perfect Atmosphere in Continental Tournament

Doha, January 17 (QNA) - Former Syrian national team captain, Firas Khatib, affirmed that the atmosphere in the AFC Asian Qatar 2023 is wonderful and amazing, pointing to the great organizational experience that the State of Qatar possesses in organizing several tournaments, and its remarkable success in hosting an exceptional edition of the World Cup 2022.
The Kuwaiti League's all-time leading scorer added in a special statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the success achieved during the World Cup by hosting a unique event made the State of Qatar the perfect place to host major tournaments, and the Asian Cup is going on in a great atmosphere with the participation of 24 teams.
He added that the competition over the title will be limited to 5 or 6 teams, which will have good chances of going far in the tournament, led by the Japanese team along with South Korean, Iranian, Australian, Qatari and Saudi teams.
According to Khatib, the Qatari team's start to defend the title was ideal, with an important victory over the Lebanese team, then overtaking the Tajik team, and qualifying for the round of 16. However, the task of maintaining the title will be very difficult, in light of the great advancement of the elite teams in the Asian continent.
