Qatar Partakes in Meeting on 'Updating Arab Model Law on Drugs' in Arab League

 
Cairo, January 17 (QNA) - The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministries of Justice and Interior, participated in the joint committee meeting of experts and representatives from the Ministries of Justice and Interior, and relevant authorities in Arab countries. The meeting aimed to update the "Arab model law on drugs and psychotropic substances" and commenced today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo. In a statement, the Arab League explained that the meeting was organized by the Legal Affairs Department (the Technical Secretariat of the Arab Justice Ministers Council) over a two-day period. It involved the participation of health ministries from Arab countries, in compliance with resolutions issued by the Arab Justice Ministers Council and the Arab Interior Ministers Council regarding the update of the Arab model law on drugs and psychotropic substances. Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Arab League Dr. Maha Bakhit highlighted that the meeting addressed the update of law provisions and the introduction of tables defining controlled substances. She noted that the meeting's outcomes would be presented to the Executive Office of the Arab Justice Ministers Council in its upcoming meeting, paving the way for submission to the next session of the council.
