Department of Zakat Fund Provided over QR16 Million in Aid During December 2023

Doha, January 16 (QNA) - The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced that the aid provided by the Department of Zakat Fund during December 2023 amounted to QR 16,121,577 donated to 400 families eligible for assistance in the State of Qatar. In this context, Assistant Director of the Department of Zakat Fund Ahmed Sultan Al Meseifri stated that the Department is keen to provide assistance to families deserving of Zakat funds within the State of Qatar. He clarified that the assistance provided by the Department is of two types. One that is provided to families monthly to help them with their needs for food, drink and housing, which amounted to QR 10,437,209. The second is a lump sum aid, which is donated to families once according to need, amounted to QR 5,684,368. All the money is disbursed by the Department of Zakat Fund to eligible registered families in accordance with the controls, Sharia banks, and approved mechanisms. Al Meseifri explained that the department recently launched a new application for smart devices called (Department of Zakat Affairs) that includes many services, including the service of applying for assistance through the department's application via the links (Apple devices: https://islam.qa/ZfApl), (Android devices https://islam.qa/ZfAnd). Applicants submit all required documents and upload them in the specified slots on the website. Individuals and companies can perform the prescribed Zakat, either through the website of the Department of Zakat Fund, offices and collection points spread nationwide, the collection service numbers: 55199990 - 55199996, or the department's accounts numbers in banks.
