Iranian student shines at FISU
Iranian student, Mojtaba Alizadeh, was nominated as the winner of the poster designing competition held by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
According to a report by the Public Relations Department of the University of Applied Sciences, FISU organized the event to mark its 60th founding anniversary and 50th anniversary of the International Universiade.
Alizadeh, a student at the University of Applied Sciences, Khorasan Razavi Branch, stood at the first place while contending with many participants from different countries.
Students from Portugal and China ranked second and third respectively at the event.
Alizadeh won 2,500 euros in cash.
The Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU, English: International University Sports Federation), based in Brussels, Belgium, coordinates the activities of over 100 national university sport federations and organizes the Winter and the Summer Universiades in uneven years and World University Championships in even years.
The word ‘Universiade’ comes from ‘university’ and ‘Olympiad’, and means Olympic games for students.
The Universiade is an international sporting and cultural festival, which is, staged every two years in a different city and which is second in importance only to the Olympic games.
