AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023/ Mobility and Logistics Executive Director Hails Obstacle-free Fan Movement

Doha, January 15 (QNA) - The Doha Metro offers football fans an obstacle-free and safe access to all venues of the ongoing AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, said Mobility and Logistics Executive Director of the Local Organization Committee (LOC) Faisal Al Moftah on Monday. Al Moftah told local media representatives at the tournament's main media center that 53,000 fans used the Doha Metro to reach the Lusail Stadium where the Qatar-Lebanon opening match was played without affecting a smooth metro flow. The LOC used an account on X platform (formerly Twitter) to facilitate monitoring, following up and providing info on the fan movement, in addition to leveraging a special highly accurate system to count fans at matches, he said. Al Moftah expressed satisfaction with the tournament logistics plan that employs two operations rooms to ensure comfortable and safe access to match venues for all categories. But he warned the encounters of GCC teams would pose challenges, with GCC fans using their private vehicles. To ensure a better service, all metro stations are being regularly maintained, even on Fridays, and a free bus transportation service is provided for media staff every half an hour from the media center to the stadiums, he said.
