AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023: Vietnam's Coach Praises Team despite Loss against Japan

Doha, January 14 (QNA) - The Frenchman, Philippe Troussier, Vietnam national football team coach said that his team's defeat by the Japanese team in the early stage of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, did not discourage his players from aiming to move on to the next stage, something that requires a win against Indonesia in their upcoming confrontation.
In a post-game press conference, Troussier said that despite his team's loss 4-2 in their match against Japan, only that they played well and with confidence, noting that Japan is one of the biggest nominees to win the title, considering their technical abilities and the shinning names among their ranks who play in major world leagues.
He added that his team were ahead of Japan at several instances, including when the score was 2-1 for Vietnam, indicating that his players were eager to give a good performance before such a strong team like Japan, regardless of the variance both teams' capabilities.
The Vietnam football team coach said that it is imperative that his team's morale remains high during the two upcoming matches, adding that as a coach, he told his players that it is difficult to win against Japan but it is possible, thus, they must do their best in the upcoming matches.
Troussier expressed his satisfaction at his team's performance, stressing their ability to make it to the next stage, and pledged to ensure that his team will be more prepared in their upcoming match. (QNA)
