AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023: Tajikistan Coach Considers Draw with China Fair

Doha, January 13 (QNA) - Croatian Petar Segrt, coach of the Tajikistan national football team, expressed his satisfaction at his team's performance in Tajikistan's first ever AFC Asian Cup appearance, in a match against China that took place as part of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023's Group A matches today.
The coach said that his satisfaction stems from the team's spirited performance during the match, as well as their winning a single point, adding that the match's result is a fair one, given his team's technical performance and various chances.
In a post-match press conference, Segrt said that Team Tajikistan were supposed to win given the amount of chances they had, adding that they were unable to score due to their being in a rush to score and China's goal keeper's outstanding ability in blocking their shots.
Team Tajikistan's coach said that the match was not easy, especially as Team China possesses some exceptional players and technical capabilities, yet stressing at the same time that Tajikistan showed a remarkable performance by keeping the Chinese preoccupied and preventing them from reaching Tajikistan's goal, save a couple of occasions.
He highlighted the importance of Team Tajikistan keeping up the good performance in their upcoming match against Qatar, adding that Tajikistan's one point sets the stage for even more positive results in the group stage, enabling them to move up to the next stage. (QNA)
