AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023: Australia Coach Praises 2-0 Win over India

Doha, January 13 (QNA) - Australia coach Graham Arnold termed their 2-0 victory over India today in Group B of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 as a good start.
At a post-match press conference, Arnold said that he was satisfied with the first victory in the tournament, while praising the performance of the Indian team who played well, especially in the first half. He added that he urged the players to take advantage of the opportunities in the second half in order to achieve victory and they succeeded in achieving that.
With this victory and the first three points at the beginning of the continental campaign, I am looking forward to more performance from the players in the upcoming matches, Arnold said.
Pointing out to his players' capabilities to show a better level, the coach said that Australia's first goal is to win the title, stressing that the team came to Doha to win the tournament and that they must do everything they can to achieve that. The victory over India is just the beginning and there are still six more matches to come that must be won, he added.
Australian national team player Jackson Irvine expressed his happiness at the victory over India in the first round of the group stage of the Asian Cup.
Praising the presence of fans at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, he said that they enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere created by the fans during the match and it was good to achieve victory in that atmosphere.
Jackson Irvine won the Best Player of the Match award after scoring the first goal and leading his country to victory. (QNA)
