AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023/ Organizing Committee: Free Transport Provided for Ticket Holders via Doha Metro

Doha, January 11 (QNA) - The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, announced today a joint initiative to provide free transportation services to ticket holders who use Doha Metro stations on match days in a move aimed at providing a smooth commuting experience for fans.
Tickets for the matches will be scanned at the Doha Metro stations by Metro staff, and fans using the metro to reach the stadiums on match days will receive a free daily ticket, which can be used on the Doha Metro station network, and is valid for one day only for that day's match ticket holders.
Five of the nine stadiums hosting the tournament can be reached directly by metro stations, while the remaining four stadiums can be reached using free shuttle services available at the nearest metro station.
Free bus transportation services will be available from Lusail, Al Wakra, Free Zone and Qatar University stations to Al Bayt, Al Janoub, Al Thumama and Abdullah bin Khalifa stadiums, respectively.
The Doha Metro network, Lusail tram and buses also provide wheelchair access for people with disabilities.
LOC's Mobility and Logistics Executive Director Faisal Al Moftah, stressed that the fan experience is a top priority, taking into account that providing smooth and comfortable transportation to the stadiums is a key factor in the success of the tournament.
Given the close distances that characterize the State of Qatar, where the longest distance between two of the nine stadiums does not exceed 75 kilometers, fans can attend more than one match per day. Both fans and players will also be able to stay in one place of residence throughout the tournament and reach the stadiums with ease thanks to modern infrastructure and an integrated transport network, most notably the Doha Metro and tram service.
He added that as the start of the Asian Championship approaches, fans are invited to use advanced and environmentally friendly public transportation while attending the tournament matches and to benefit from high-level services that guarantee them a unique and exceptional experience.
Qatar is preparing to host the Asian Cup for the third time in its history, setting a record for organizing the Asian football festival, having successfully hosted the tournament twice before, in 1988 and 2011.
The continental championship kicks off tomorrow and will continue until Feb. 10, 2024, with 24 teams competing in 51 matches, held in nine stadiums built according to the latest international specifications. (QNA)
