Qatar Participates in 3rd International Mining Conference

 
Riyadh, January 11 (QNA) - The State of Qatar took part in the Round Table meting of Ministers in charge of the mineral resources sector. Held as part of the Third International Mining Conference in Riyadh, the round table meeting was organized by the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. The meeting addressed a number of topics, primarily the comprehensive challenges facing the mineral sector around the world. Areas of focus included cooperation in supporting technology development across the value chain, advancing the green mineral value chain supported by reliable, affordable and abundant renewable energy sources, and building community trust through responsible mining in addition to implementing high standards of environmental, social and governance performance, and certifying the production and supply of minerals. The Assistant Undersecretary for Consumer Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Hassan bin Sultan Al Ghanim, participated in the conference, which included dialogue sessions on a number of topics, most notably making progress in the sector’s future agenda, and dealing with developments in the issues that were focused on in the discussions of the second edition of the conference, particularly those related to the mining sector in the region extending from Africa to West and Central Asia. In the same context, Hassan bin Sultan Al Ghanim also participated in the ninth consultative meeting of Their Excellencies the Arab Ministers in charge of mineral wealth affairs, which was organized by the Arab Organization for Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, the meeting saw the official launch of the Arab Future Minerals Platform, an informational and interactive window to serve the Arab mining sector. (QNA)
