Qatar Charity Provides Food Aid to Internally Displaced Persons in Sudan

Khartoum, January 07 (QNA) - Qatar Charity announced launching new food aid shipments to the Kassala, Red Sea, and the Northern States in Sudan.
These shipments are part of a project that is funded by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and aims to provide (50,000) food packages to families and internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by the conflict in Sudan.
HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Sudan Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sada emphasized that Qatar will carry on with its humanitarian efforts to assist the affected Sudanese people. His Excellency noted the package of Qatari aid to the affected families and affirmed that Qatar's support for the people in Sudan will continue in the next phase, something that is a core humanitarian duty.
For his part, the Federal Commissioner of the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) in Sudan Dr. Salah Al Mubarak expressed his country's appreciation for the State of Qatar, QFFD, and Qatar Charity's continuous response by helping those affected in the various states of Sudan.
He added that their recent intervention is of great importance, whereby they provided 8,000 food packages to IDPs and affected individuals, especially in light of the displacement that is occurring due to recent developments in the city of Wad Madani and the resulting increased need for food assistance.
The Federal Commissioner of Humanitarian Aid emphasized that successive Qatari aid has played a significant role in alleviating the suffering of the affected.
He indicated the Qatari air lift to provide urgent food and medical assistance, was a gesture that was highly appreciated by the Sudanese government and people.
The total beneficiaries of the food aid shipments directed to the affected families in Kassala, Red Sea, and the Northern States are (48,000), whereas the QFFD-funded and Qatar Charity-implemented project to provide 50,000 food packages to the affected families in Sudan, benefits 300,000 beneficiaries.
