AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023: Coach Radulovic Caries Lebanon's Hopes in Reaching Knockout Round

Doha, January 06 (QNA) - Lebanon football team compete in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 hoping to reach the knockout round for the first time.
Lebanon are in Group A along with host and defending champion, Qatar; two times champions, China and first time participants Tajikistan, The team will start their campaign, on the opening day of the tournament, Jan. 12, facing Qatar at Lusail Stadium.
Lebanon team hope to obtain a ticket to qualify for the second round for the first time in their history, as they have never reached the knockout rounds. The team participated in the tournament twice, the first in the 2000 edition in Lebanon, and were eliminated in the groups stage. The second was in 2019, when team Lebanon were close to reaching the qualifying rounds, but fell one yellow card behind Vietnam.
Montenegrin head coach of Lebanon Miodrag Radulovic leads the Lebanese national team in the Asian Cup for the second consecutive time, after being re-signed in December 2023 following the dismissal of Croatian Nikola Jurcevic.
Radulovic hopes to present strong performances that would increase his chances of qualifying despite the difficulty of the Group A, relying on great knowledge of the Lebanese national team, which he previously coached for four years between 2015 and 2019, and achieved good results with them that helped the team rise in 2018 to 77th place in the world, the team's all-time best rank.
