Expo Doha 2023: Lesotho's Pavilion Highlights its African History

Doha, January 05 (QNA) - The pavilion of Lesotho at the International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha highlights its vibrant history and geography that made this small kingdom located within South Africa a tourist attraction from all parts of the African continent.
The pavilion in the International Zone of Expo 2023 Doha showcases Lesotho's success in being a host to visitors from all over Europe and the world, thanks to its unique climate and limited geographical area of mountainous nature.
Lesotho rises nearly 3,000 feet above sea level, resulting in the formation of snow and icebergs, and the emergence of the 3,000-metre-high Mount Maloti, a ski resort south of the equator.
The pavilion goes on to celebrate the location of Lesotho despite it being a landlocked country geographically surrounded by the Republic of South Africa in all directions, and to emphasize the history of liberation from British rule and achieving independence in 1966.
The geographical map in the pavilion identifies central information on the most important landmarks of Lesotho, with the capital Maseru at the forefront, and accurately determines the distance between the capital and the nearest regional business centers such as Pretoria, Johannesburg and Durban in South Africa.
In addition to geography, the pavilion goes on to showcase the history of Lesotho and the pivotal stages that the people there went through, with an emphasis on pride in identity and the preservation of culture and social traditions over the centuries.
The pavilion emphasizes that Lesotho has overcome many challenges and changes over the years, until it achieved independence, and displays stories of courage and the spirit of resistance that are distinctive of the identity of the Kingdom of Lesotho.
Most of the population in Lesotho works in agriculture and pastoralism, and its most important agricultural products are corn, wheat, and barley, in addition to livestock raising, while industries are distributed among textiles, building materials, and equipment assembly, in addition to work in the fields of tourism.
