2023 AFC Asian Cup/ Indian Team Strives to Shine at Asian Cup

Kuala Lumpur, December 24 (QNA) - Indian football team is determined to shine at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup that will be hosted by Doha from Jan. 12 to Feb. 10, 2024. The AFC has continued to shine spotlights on the teams participating in this continental championship, reminiscing the luckiness of the Indian team which plays within Group A that brings together Australia, Uzbekistan, and Syria. The All India Football Federation debuted in 1933 and joined the game in 1948. It joined AFC in 1954, and has a membership in South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) since 1997. The Indian team played the first match against Australia in 1938 and lost 3-5. The team has never been qualified for the World Cup finals, while it currently hopes to have a magnificent participation that meets the very ambitions in the continental finals. The Croatian Igor Stimac, 56-year-old, has been leading the Indian team since 2019 after having only one experience with his country's team in 2012-2013 prior to embarking on training some teams in Asia. He had flagship experiences with Al Shahaniya SC of Qatar, and Sepahan S.C. of Iran. He ultimately settled with the Indian football and now leads the Indian team, and is obviously determined to go beyond the group stage. (QNA)
