Nine killed in explosives factory blast in western India

NEW DELHI, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- At least nine people were killed and several others injured in a blast on Sunday at an explosives factory in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

The blast took place at 9 am in a unit of Solar Industries India Ltd in the Bazargaon area, about 60 km from Nagpur city, local media reported.

The company manufactures industrial explosives and military ammunition.

Maharashtra's deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said the state government will provide a compensation of 500,000 rupees (about RM28,100) each to the families of those killed in the blast.
