Thai PM Srettha To Attend ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit

BANGKOK, Dec 14 (Bernama) -- Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will undertake a working visit to Tokyo, Japan, on Dec 14 to 18 to attend the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation.
The Thai Foreign Ministry in a statement said the summit will discuss ways forward in advancing the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and chart the future direction of ASEAN-Japan cooperation.
It noted that as the current country coordinator for the ASEAN-Japan Dialogue Relations, Thailand has played a key role in coordinating and promoting new areas of cooperation amidst a number of common challenges, as well as encouraging Japan’s enhanced engagement in the sustainable economic development of Thailand and the region.
“During the visit, the prime minister will also have a number of additional important engagements, including a royal audience with the Emperor and Empress of Japan, a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan, Kishida Fumio, as well as discussions with high-level officials from Japanese government agencies,” it said.
Besides that, Srettha will hold one-on-one meetings with executives of Japanese companies in the automotive industry and other target industries.
The Foreign Ministry said Srettha and Deputy Prime Minister who is also Foreign Minister, Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, will deliver keynote speeches at the Thailand-Japan Investment Forum, organised by the Board of Investment of Thailand, to further promote investment between the two countries.
