MoSDF Organizes Artistic Exhibition to Highlight Innovations of Persons with Disabilities

Doha, December 09 (QNA) - The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MoSDF) organized an artistic exhibition to highlight the innovations of talents from persons with disabilities (PWDs) titled: with my talent I create my strength.
The event was held during Dec. 7-9 at Msheireb Galleria in the heart of Msheireb Downtown Doha and coincides with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Held in collaboration with Al Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities and Msheireb Properties, the exhibition aims to shed the light on the talents of PWDs through their personal paintings and artistic handmade artworks, as well as a wide range of recreational activities. The event primarily intends to propagate awareness among the community on the importance of providing support to the talented PWDs.
HE Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at the MoSDF, Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al-Thani, said the exhibition seeks to empower and include PWDs in the community and support their various talents since they are part and parcel of the community, in addition to highlighting their innovations and talents.
For her part, Director of the Social Welfare Department at the MoSDF, Reem Al Ajmi, said the exhibition reflects the high creative level of PWDs, affirming that holding such a type of exhibition bolsters the MoSDF's objectives aimed at including and empowering PWDs in the community through developing their skills and rehabilitating them.
She underscored that the department is keen to capitalize on the efforts and expertise of PWDs in the comprehensive development through providing training, rehabilitation and support to them and their families, as per need and nature of disability, as well as help employ them through finding job opportunities for the targeted segments in a way that best suits their capabilities and potential.
The department also seeks productive cooperation with ministries, institutions and relevant entities in the country and train families of the disabled on how to deal with them, Al Ajmi added, pointing out that the department conducts awareness campaigns on the rights of PWDs in the community, in addition to conducting studies and field research to upgrade the services provided to them.
