Qatari Newspapers Editorials
Doha, December 04 (QNA) - In their Monday editorials, Qatari newspapers covered a range of topics that have dominated both the local and Arab scenes. They highlighted talks held between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the friendly Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel. The session affirmed their shared desire to further develop and grow the relations between the two friendly nations in various fields to meet the aspirations of the two friendly people. They also exchanged views on key regional and international issues, especially developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.
The newspapers also paid attention to HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chairing the 158th Preparatory Ministerial Council meeting of the 44th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). During the meeting, His Excellency reiterated the State of Qatar's condemnation of the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation and its calling for an immediate, comprehensive, and impartial international investigation into those crimes, especially the attacks that targeted civilian, relief, and humanitarian facilities and to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable and do not escape punishment.
The newspapers highlighted the directives issued by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for the treatment of 1,500 wounded people and the sponsorship of 3,000 orphans from the brotherly Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip. The State of Qatar will also be in charge of the transfer of the wounded and their companions, in coordination with the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, in preparation for their treatment in the designated hospitals.
Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial that the State of Qatar and the Republic of Cuba share distinctive and advanced relations, seeking further cooperation and progress in various fields. These relations have been enhanced through high-level mutual visits that focused on the development of economic and investment ties.
The Qatari-Cuban relations are governed by a set of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU), characterized by their strong political ties. The two countries coordinate their positions on various international platforms, supporting international security and peace, the paper noted.
Al-Watan further highlighted the official talks session held between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani with HE President of the friendly Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel on Sunday, affirming the shared desire to develop and enhance relations between the two countries in various fields.
Al-Watan concluded its editorial by pointing out that the talks also involved exchanging views on key regional and international issues, especially developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. The two sides underlined the importance of reaching a permanent ceasefire, protecting civilians, delivering humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip, and finding a solution to the Palestinian cause that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, and increased coordination in international forums to stop Israeli aggression and achieve lasting peace for occupied Palestine.
For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper emphasized Qatar's unwavering commitment to providing all forms of support to the brotherly Palestinian people. Qatar is actively engaged in political and humanitarian efforts regionally and internationally, working bilaterally with friendly and sisterly countries to support the Palestinian people during these challenging humanitarian circumstances.
The newspaper said that alongside its political efforts, Qatar plays a central and leading role in mediating between Hamas and Israel, aiming to extend the pause and achieve a permanent ceasefire. Qatar is also dedicated to the humanitarian aspect, facilitating the opening of crossings for the flow of humanitarian aid and maintaining an ongoing humanitarian airlift to the Egyptian city of Arish. To date, Qatar has sent 37 planes carrying 1,219 tons of aid, including food, medical supplies, shelter materials, and a field hospital with ambulances.

Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by noting that this initiative comes as an extension of Qatar's steadfast support and continuous efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza and a part of a broader support and larger efforts led by HH the Amir to de-escalate, reach a permanent ceasefire, protect civilians, deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, and find a solution to the Palestinian cause that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Under the title "Qatar Calls for International Investigation into Occupation Crimes", Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces since Oct. 7, require a strong international response that puts an end to these crimes and brings the perpetrators, including the leaders of the occupation, to international justice. Israel, which has felt immune from punishment, continues to persist in killing Palestinians and committing horrific massacres against them.
The newspaper praised HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, for his confirmation during his chairmanship of the 58th Preparatory Ministerial Council meeting of the 44th session of Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held on Sunday in Doha, in the presence of Their Highnesses and Excellencies Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the GCC countries and HE Secretary-General of the GCC, that the State of Qatar condemns the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation and calls for an immediate, comprehensive, and impartial international investigation into those crimes, especially the attacks that targeted civilian, relief, and humanitarian facilities, to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable and do not escape punishment.
Despite the occupation authorities' obstruction of mediation and attempts to impose a new reality in the negotiations, the State of Qatar has pledged to spare no effort and to collaborate extensively with all influential countries to resume the pause and ultimately achieve a permanent ceasefire, the paper said.
In conclusion, Al-Raya said that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the State of Qatar, which spared no effort in the mediation process to stop that retaliation war, and succeeded with its partners in reaching a humanitarian pause agreement in the Gaza Strip and exchanging women and children hostages between both sides, will continue its efforts to resume the pause until reaching a permanent ceasefire to achieve a just solution to the Palestinian cause in accordance with the legitimate resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative through a two-state solution.
For its part, The Peninsula newspaper praised, in its editorial Monday, the continued political and diplomatic efforts of Qatar to communicate with all parties to reach a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The newspaper said in its editorial titled "Efforts to End Bloodshed " that since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in Gaza Strip on Oct 7, the country played a pivotal role in brokering a pause in Gaza which ended on Friday with resumption of hostilities.
Qatar expressed regret in a statement at the resumption of the hostilities. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Qatar continues negotiations between Israel and Hamas for a humanitarian pause and delivery of aid. The resumption of Israeli bombing has complicated the mediation efforts and exacerbated the humanitarian catastrophe in the enclave, the paper said.
The Peninsula concluded its editorial by noting that a total of 15,500 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, and the number of injured has surpassed 40,000, with 70 percent of them being children and women. (QNA)
