Minister of Commerce and Industry, Brazilian Officials Discuss Investment Partnership Opportunities

Doha, November 30 (QNA) - During his meeting with a delegation that included a number of Brazilian ministers and officials accompanying HE President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani discussed investment partnership opportunities in the fields of energy, mining, agriculture, food industry, financial services, petrochemicals, logistics services, real estate, and ways to enhance them, as well as the possibility of increasing investments by Qatari and Brazilian companies in both countries.
This came on the sidelines of the meeting organized by the Qatari Businessmen Association with Brazilian officials and businessmen. The meeting discussed investment opportunities, improving investment relations between the two countries, and enhancing efforts to develop economic and investment ties between the two countries.
It also dealt with developing quality investments for major companies and enabling the private sector to benefit from investment opportunities in both countries.
In a related context, HE Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatari Businessmen Association Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Thani Al-Thani stressed the importance of cooperation between Qatar and Brazil, where the volume of bilateral trade exceeds one billion dollars, with about 28 Brazilian companies operating in Qatar in cooperation with Qatari investors. He emphasized the need to strengthen investment cooperation between the two countries, given the great opportunities currently available, especially in Qatar.
For his part, HE Sheikh Nawaf Bin Nasser Al-Thani, member of the board of directors of the Qatari Businessmen Association, stressed the importance of taking advantage of the opportunities available in areas of common interest, and contributing to providing support and advantages to investors to develop investments between the two countries.
The meeting focused on the strength of the relations between the State of Qatar and Brazil at all levels, especially in economic and commercial areas, since there are many high quality Brazilian products in the Qatari market.
Brazil and Qatar have distinguished relations at all levels, especially in trade and economy. Qatar is considered an attractive investment destination and is the third country in terms of trade exchange between the GCC countries.
The volume of trade exchange between the two countries has witnessed remarkable growth, especially with regard to food and agricultural materials, poultry, meat and other important products. (QNA)
