Aspire Academy Organizes First Abroad Training Camp for Padel Student-Athletes

Doha, November 28 (QNA) - Aspire Academy organized its first abroad training camp for the Academy's padel student-athletes since including the sport in its program at the beginning of the current season.
Six players spent two weeks at a professional tennis and padel academy in Spain. The student-athletes were accompanied by coaches and a teacher to ensure they kept up with their academic progress.
With the increasing popularity of padel, the sport was included in the list of sports at Aspire Academy at the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year. The program is run in cooperation with Paddle In.
Barry Shillabeer, Head of performance support for the padel program at Aspire Academy, said that the student-athletes learned a great deal during their time in Spain and positive changes were noticed in some players upon their return to Qatar.
Shillabeer highlighted the experience in Spain especially since only a few months have passed since the launch of the padel program at the Academy.
He explained that heavy work is being done to ensure that the student-athletes reach professional levels.
The student-athletes are scheduled to participate in different categories in Padel In's master tournament from Dec. 3 to 8, held in Padel In's playing fields next to Aspire Academy. (QNA)
