Bangkok Authorities Collect Krathongs throughout the Night

BANGKOK, Nov 28 (TNA) - Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) collected Krathong floats, across the city to properly dispose of the krathongs after the Loy Krathong festival.

Once the floating of krathongs concludes, the task of the BMA is to collect these decorative floats. The operation is divided based on areas, with district offices responsible for collecting krathongs in public parks and event areas within their districts. 

The Drainage and Sewerage Department is tasked with collecting krathongs in canals and water retention areas, while the Environmental Office is responsible for collecting krathongs in the Chao Phraya River, spanning from Rama VIII Bridge to Rama IX Bridge, covering a distance of approximately 15 kilometers. The operations commenced at 8 p.m. on Nov27 and continued until 5 a.m. on Nov 28.

The collected krathongs will undergo sorting and be sent for proper disposal at the three waste disposal centers. Krathongs made from natural materials and biodegradable substances will be directed to the organic fertilizer production facility in Nong Khaem. Meanwhile, styrofoam krathongs will be buried in the sanitary landfill. (TNA)
