Qatar Red Crescent Society Participates in 11th IFRC Asia-Pacific Regional Conference in Vietnam

Doha, November 25 (QNA) - The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has participated in the 11th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), held in Hanoi, Vietnam, under the theme "Asia-Pacific prepared for disasters". The three-day conference addressed key challenges and opportunities, highlighted issues in relation to protection of vulnerable groups, exchanged practical experience to find suitable approaches and innovative solutions, and proposed new ideas, profound insights, and constructive recommendations. Headed by Acting Secretary-General Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi, the QRCS delegation attended a session on the building of reliable organizations and a panel discussion on the humanitarian conditions in Gaza, in which participants stressed the importance of supporting Palestine Red Crescent Society’s (PRCS) efforts to help those affected by the ongoing war. QRCS’s delegation held many coordination meetings with leaders and representatives of the participating National Societies, as well as the IFRC regional offices of Asia-Pacific and Europe, and the Undersecretary-General for National Society Development and Operations Coordination, to discuss potential cooperation on climate change and disaster preparedness/response. The delegation also honored a group of young representatives participating in the conference, in appreciation of their efforts, emphasizing the pivotal role of the youth in the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
