The President of the Republic and his Armenian counterpart chair an expanded meeting of the two government delegations

Baghdad / NINA / -President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and Armenian President Vahakin Khachaturian chaired an expanded meeting of the two government delegations.

 During the meeting, discussions took place regarding signing agreements and memorandums of understanding in several areas that would achieve the highest interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

 The expanded meeting discussed, according to a presidential statement, many common issues between the two sides, such as the necessity of regular flights between Baghdad and Yerevan, as well as between Erbil and Yerevan, which would contribute to increasing the flow of tourists to the two countries, and strengthening the bonds and social ties between the two friendly peoples. The agreement was also discussed to cancel the visa between the two countries, as well as discuss opening direct flights between Iraq and Armenia with the aim of strengthening relations.

 Focus was also placed on consolidating political relations and expanding exchanges between Iraq and Armenia, and activating the work of the Friendship Committee in the Iraqi and Armenian parliaments to enhance dialogue and coordination in the two countries, consolidate parliamentary relations, as well as trade and economic cooperation, and establish peace and stability on the regional and international arenas.

 Cooperation was discussed in the fields of investment, energy, technology, facilitating the entry of companies and businessmen, as well as supporting the tourism sector. The importance of joint efforts to combat international terrorism in all its forms was stressed, and the necessity of committing to establishing a comprehensive, equal and representative international system in accordance with the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter, aims to achieving peace, democracy and prosperity for peoples and ethnic and religious groups.  / End
