JAKARTA, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s vice president Ma’ruf Amin is currently on a working visit to Greece, Slovakia, and Malaysia, with a focus on strengthening relations and fostering collaboration, especially in halal industry.

Ma’ruf and his delegation departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, heading to Athens, Greece on Wednesday, according to his spokesperson Masduki Baidlowi.

Before returning from Slovakia, Ma’ruf will make a stop in Kuching, Sarawak, for the Global Muslim Business Forum, contributing to the enhancement of bilateral relations with Malaysia.

His agenda in Malaysia encompasses meetings with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak state Premier Abang Johari Openg, alongside a dialogue with the Indonesian diaspora in Kuching.

“The meetings are crucial, especially regarding the development of the halal industry in various countries,” Masduki stated in a statement.

During the visit to Greece, Ma’ruf is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and engage in a dialogue on diversity in religion with Archbishop Ieronymos II.

In Slovakia, he will meet with President Zuzana Čaputová, engage with halal entrepreneurs and Islamic Foundation Slovakia, as well as take part in various dialogues, including national and interfaith discussions.

The mission aims to facilitate the exchange of valuable insights with Slovakia’s leadership, leveraging Indonesia’s rich experience, Masduki added.
