ALECSO Classifies Cultural Village Foundation - Katara as City of Arabic Novel
Tunis, November 17 (QNA) - The Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) honored the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara as the 'City of the Arabic Novel', in a ceremony held at ALECSO's headquarters in Tunis. Katara General Manager Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti received the certificate classifying Katara as the city of the Arabic Novel along with the ALECSO shield, in the presence of ALECSO Director-General Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, and Fahd bin Khalifa Al Attiyah, deputy of HE the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Tunisia, as well as a number of ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Tunisia, in addition to a number of intellectuals and media figures. In a speech, Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti expressed his thanks and appreciation to ALECSO, pointing to the success of the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel since its inception in 2014 in consolidating the presence of distinguished Arabic novels at the Arab and international levels, under the direct supervision of ALECSO which spared no effort in sponsoring the award in all its successive sessions, leaving a good impact in motivating the award committee to launch many initiatives aimed at encouraging and appreciating Arab novelists to move forward towards broader horizons of creativity and excellence. In his speech during the event, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar expressed ALECSO's keenness to honor Arab cultural institutions as innovative and sustainable in one of the organization's vital areas of interest, noting that the nominated cultural institutions are honored based on the organization's standards for quality and their work in the field of culture and creativity, the extent of its impact, the scope of ist action plan, and the extent of its contribution to implementing the organization's goals and the commitments of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
