OIC Forum Highlights Suffering Of Palestinian Women
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) highlighted the plight of Palestinian women who are being brutally killed in the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.
Speaking at the “International Conference on Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment” in Jeddah, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha also urged for intensified efforts to expose Israeli barbarism and defend the rights of Palestinian women and the Palestinian people.
He said the Conference came at a time when the Palestinians are facing brutal Israeli aggression, where a majority of them killed were women, children and the elderly, the OIC said in a statement on its website.
He pointed out that the most significant number of victims, who were being slaughtered in the midst of a state of silence, constitute the weakest link in this tragedy.
The three-day conference, organised by OIC was hosted by Saudi Arabia in Jeddah.
More than 10,000 people in Gaza Strip had been killed since Oct 7. The death toll includes 2,641 women and 4,104 children.
On another note, Taha stated that since its inception, the OIC has devoted itself to the promotion of the rights and empowerment of Muslim women.
He also affirmed the OIC’s determination to continue constructive dialogue to empower Afghan women and guarantee their right to access education at all levels and participate in public life.
