House Speaker Assures The Turkish FM The Need For Iraq To Obtain A Fair Share Of Water

Baghdad / NINA /- Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi stressed, during his meeting today with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his accompanying delegation, the need for Iraq to obtain a fair share of water.

Al-Halbousi stressed, according to a statement by his media office, the need to find solutions to the water problem, for Iraq to obtain a fair share of water, to increase releases of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, the importance of bilateral cooperation in this important field, and to benefit from Turkish experiences in improving and developing water systems in Iraq.

The two sides discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance mutual cooperation in all fields, including the economic, security and investment fields, in addition to discussing the oil file and the need to solve the problems of the export file, and agreeing to form a permanent committee between the two countries to deal with the water file.

They also discussed developments in the situation in the region, and coordination between Iraq and Turkey on various issues of common interest in the interest of the two friendly peoples.

The Turkish Foreign Minister expressed his country's support for Iraq, readiness to work to solve outstanding problems between the two countries, and cooperation in all fields./ End
