NEW DELHI, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Pakistan's new High Commissioner to Malaysia Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, who arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, is a seasoned diplomat.
The new High Commissioner is expected to work to expand the scope of Pakistan's close relations with Malaysia.
While receiving him at the President House in Islamabad recently, President Arif Alvi told Ahsan that Pakistan attaches great importance to its ties with Malaysia and there is a need to find new opportunities for trade and economic cooperation.
During the meeting last week, Alvi said Pakistan should work to improve relations with Malaysia in the areas of trade, economy, education and culture and expressed interest in attracting Malaysian investment.
"Malaysian entrepreneurs should benefit from Pakistan's investment-friendly policies," Alvi said, according to a social media post by his office.
The president asked the high commissioner-designate to engage with the Malaysian business community and trade associations.
Ahsan, who served as an additional secretary in charge of Afghanistan and West Asian affairs at the Foreign Ministry, in his new role replaces Amna Baloch, who is now posted as Pakistan's ambassador to Belgium.
In his earlier assignments, Ahsan served as ambassador to Qatar, as consul general in Glasgow, and as deputy head of mission at the embassy in Abu Dhabi.
