Iran, China call for expansion of all-out relations

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad conferred on Tuesday with his Chinese Counterpart Hu Jintao on expansion of mutual relations between the two countries.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit which began in Yekaterinburg, Russia on Tuesday.

At the meeting, the two presidents also called for expansion of cooperation at regional and international levels as well as adopting a long term strategy to this effect.

Current ties between Iran and China at various economic fields are developing, said the Iranian president and called for making use of untapped economic potentialities of both countries.

There are no limitations for Iran and China, as two powerful countries with ample of economic potentialities, to broaden and bolster ties and cooperation, he said adding this will be to the benefit of both countries as well as the entire region.

"We should prepare ourselves to deal with political and cultural developments in the world," underlined the Iranian president.

Iran and China can play a prominent role in global developments, he pointed out.

Significant role of Iran and China in global developments urges the two sides to adopt a long-term strategy to broaden constant and durable cooperation, said the Iranian president.

Iran and China should collectively overcome difficulties, he said.

The Chinese president, for his part, congratulated his Iranian counterpart President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on his re-election and expressed the hope to witness expansion of ties and relations between the two countries in various fields, he said.

Given the deep-rooted ties between Tehran and Beijing, he said, "We are quite confident that friendly and profound economic relations between the two countries should continue forever."

The entire globe is now on the brink of deep change, he said adding, "We believe that through collective cooperation it will be possible to deal with the global economic meltdown."

President Ahmadinejad arrived in Russia on Tuesday to attend SCO Summit as an observer.
