Tajik Foreign Minister to QNA: Tajikistan Attaches Great Attention to HH the Amir's Visit

Dushanbe, June 08 (QNA) - HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin said that his country attaches great importance to the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Tajikistan, for its role in boosting contacts, both in political and economic domains, intensify the trade and investment collaboration, as well as contribute to the development of people to people ties. 

Speaking to QNA, HE Tajik Foreign Minister said "We underline with satisfaction the development of relations between our countries. In the years since the establishment of diplomatic relations mutual high and senior level visits laid the foundation for multifaceted cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Qatar. At the same time we highlight the immediate role of political dialogue between the HE President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the process of expanding and strengthening cooperation between the two friendly countries."

He highlighted the continuous development in the cooperation between two countries in political, economic, investment, social, cultural, education, healthcare, tourism and other spheres aimed at fulfillment of aspirations of the two nations. 

"We give high priority to further development of mutually beneficial relations and expansion of long-term partnership with the State of Qatar," he added.

HE the Tajik Foreign Minister pointed out that the two countries have established fruitful cooperation in the framework of international and regional organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Asian Cooperation Dialogue, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and other international institutions, reiterating his country's commitment to further enhance Qatar-Tajikistan engagement on issues of bilateral, regional and international importance.

He noted the constructive role and contribution of Qatar to ensure peace and stability in the region, saying "During the last decades Qatar established stable platforms for addressing global issues and created favorable condition for hosting international events. These all confirms the leading role of Qatar not only in the region but also far beyond."

He explained that the State of Qatar and Tajikistan interact in the framework of different globally recognized platforms, noting that the role of Qatar in advancement of Dushanbe Counter-Terrorism Process, which enabled Tajikistan to explore ways of joint approach to common threats, is of particular importance. 

He reaffirmed Dushanbe's readiness to expand cooperation with Qatari side in the field of maintaining regional security and promoting sustainable development; to provide logistics for humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan, and to cooperate constructively with Qatar in this issue.

Talking about the future of cooperation between the two countries, His Excellency said that development of trade and economic cooperation is at core focus of our bilateral agenda, explaining that in order to expand this part of mutual collaboration, the revitalization and the effective use of Joint Intergovernmental Commission on commercial, economic, technical, and scientific cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar is of utmost importance.  

HE Sirojiddin Muhriddin referred to the ample opportunities of the two countries for enhancing trade and investment partnership, stressing the importance of applying new and up-to-date tools such as economic incentives and business preferences, joint thematic market oriented exhibitions and promotion of direct links between the business communities of our countries, citing the presence of Qatari Diar company in Tajikistan and its direct investment in Diar Dushanbe real estate project, which is unique in Central Asia. 

He also underlined the close work on the content of the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, slated for September 2023, in particular to introduce action oriented road map on cooperation in the field of industry, water resources, energy with special focus to renewable energy, tourism,  agriculture, full processing of cotton fiber, leather, fruits and vegetables, as well as in the areas of IT and AI. 

On the sideline of the Commission's next session, organization of a business forum of entrepreneurs of the two countries and in setting up Qatari-Tajik Business Council would be an effective tool for the development of trade and economic cooperation between the countries, will benefit both sides, he added.

For effective cooperation between the two countries in the areas of mutual interest the legal framework plays significant role, he said explaining that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the legal basis of cooperation between Tajikistan and the State of Qatar is formed by 16 intergovernmental and inter-ministerial documents. Also, 4 documents of cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, beekeeping and animal husbandry were signed between the relevant authorities of the two countries, he added. 

He went on saying that currently, there are several draft documents of cooperation under consideration by the two parties. pointing to the importance of preparing and approving regulatory and legal documents for the expansion of relations in all areas. 

Concluding the interview with QNA, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin voiced belief that the results of hh the Amir's visit will strengthen multifaceted, trust based and friendly relations between Tajikistan and Qatar and will open new page in the history of cooperation between the two nations.
