Bomb blast kills 8 in Pakistan ’s northwest: official


Islamabad, June 15, IRNA- A bomb blast in a busy market killed at least eight people in a major city in Pakistan’s northwest on Sunday, a senior official announced today.

The bomb was planted at a crowded market at the city of Dera Islamil Khan in North West Frontier Province , District Coordination Officer Syed Mohsin Shah said.

The official said that over 20 people were also injured in the blast at ‘Pir Market’ locality of the violence-stricken city.

A large number of people were busy when the bomb ripped through the market, witnesses said.

An expert of bomb disposal squad said that the device was attached to a cart.

Several vehicles and shops were also destroyed in the blast. Police said that a suspect was arrested by the people shortly after the blast.

The injured were shifted to a local hospital by the people in private vehicles.

No group claimed responsibility for the blast.
