The suspect identified as a second class army sergeant major was charged with bringing false information into the computer system after he threatened to release the personal data of 55 million Thais stolen from a state agency.
He turned himself in to the police at the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau.
If his wife who is a nurse was involved in the hack, a legal action will be taken against her and the couple’s case will proceed to the civilian justice system.
The suspect is tech-savvy and the police seized many items of hacking equipment during a search at his place. (TNA)
