MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. The meeting of the BRICS heads of state will be held next year in Kazan. This is according to the decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The document was published on Monday on the official portal of legal information.
"In connection with the forthcoming chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the BRICS association in 2024, [hereby] I decide to determine the city of Kazan as the venue for the meeting of the BRICS heads of state in 2024. [Hereby I instruct] to form an organizing committee to prepare and ensure the chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the BRICS association in 2024," the decree says.
According to the document, Yury Ushakov, aide to the Russian President, has been appointed chairman of the organizing committee. He is to approve the line-up of the organizing committee and the plan of main events within a month. In general, the organizing committee is instructed to submit an agreed concept of Russia's chairmanship in BRICS for the President's approval. The Russian government is to provide funding for the relevant measures.
BRICS member states are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
