Elections in Iran sign of democracy, social dynamism: French expert
French researcher and expert on Middle East affairs Antoine Essfair said presidential election in Iran with different candidates and holding debates is a sign of social dynamism and democracy in that countrt.
Speaking to IRNA here on Tuesday, Essfair said since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, election has always been held in tranquility and in the framework of democracy.
He said holding direct debates in front of millions of Iranians between candidates is deserving for Iranian nation.
The French researcher added if President Ahmadinejad fails the election, another Ahmadinejad will take office and country’s policies will be the same, but in a more calm way.
"The west will not change its policies toward Iran with changing its president, either," the expert said.
He added whoever becomes Iran’s president, the west should negotiate with Iran and not with a person .
Essfair underlined that since November 4, President Ahmadinejad has not talked about elimination of Israel, but has said that the Palestinians should be able to determine their own fate.
He concluded that denial of Holocaust by President Ahmadinejad is also for supporting the Palestinians.
