ASEAN OPEN INAUGURATED IN THUA THIEN-HUE
Thua Thien-Hue (VNA)- The 10 th ASEAN Open was inaugurated in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on June 7 with the participation of 254 chess players from 10 countries, including India, Iran, Australia and Russia.
Six other countries are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations
(ASEAN).
Host Vietnam sent the largest team comprising 172 players with big hopes for
golds from Hoai Thuong and Kim Phung.
Players will compete in six categories of ages from U8 to U20 and in all the three
events, consisting of traditional chess, fast chess within 25 minutes and flash
chess in 10 minutes, for 90 sets of medals.--Enditem
