Sadyr Zhaparov: CKU railway creates broad conditions for generating large incomes and attracting investments

Bishkek, Nov. 25, 2022. /Kabar/. “The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan (CKU) railway creates broad conditions for the state to receive large revenues and attract foreign investment in the future,” President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov told today speaking at the first People’s Kurultai. “We have reached an agreement on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which has been discussed since the first years of our independence, but has not been decided due to the opposition of some political interests. The construction of this railway will provide access to the sea and make our railway a transit one. That will give great economic opportunities for development. To date, specialists have arrived from China who are conducting research in the Naryn and Jalal-Abad regions. This road creates broad conditions for the state to receive large revenues and attract foreign investment in the future,” the head of state said. Sadyr Zhaparov also touched upon the development of iron ore deposits. “In the future, we intend to use our own iron ore deposits and build modern iron ore processing and product manufacturing plants instead of purchasing iron from outside for the construction of railways, hydroelectric power plants and all facilities in the country. The reason is that today we spend millions of dollars a year buying iron. To be more precise, millions of dollars of our money leave the country every year just to buy iron. If we can build a modern iron ore processing plant with these funds, we will not only stop the outflow of large funds from our country, but also bring significant income to the state treasury through exports,” Sadyr Zhaparov said.
