Iran voices support for Ethiopia peace process

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani on Monday announced his country’s support for peace talks between Ethiopia and Tigray forces. Kanaani expressed hope that the peace process helps Ethiopia improve security and tranquility on its soil. He announced Iran’s readiness to help Ethiopia improve peace and security. The Ethiopian government and Tigrayan forces in the north have been engaged in war over the past two years, which has killed thousands and displaced millions. The two sides last Wednesday agreed on a ceasefire after talks mediated by the African Union. On Monday, they met in Kenya for a new round of negotiations on implementing their truce.
